Goodbye, Uncle Dan

Today is the funeral for Gerald's uncle Dan. He was the last surviving brother of George, Gerald's father. He and his wife, Martha, celebrated 61 years of marriage only the day before. Together they had six wonderful children - all who are grown, married and have children of their own. Uncle Dan even got to hold his first great-grandchild a week before he died! Four years ago, Uncle Dan had a stroke followed by a series of health problems. The last time we saw him, he was so weak and frail. But now he is probably dancing around in heaven, glad to be free of his weakness.

But he will be missed very much on earth. I was always impressed with his incredibly kind and gentle manner. My love and prayers go to his family today.
