Changes
This morning the sky was a calm blue, and then the wind started howling and the sky grew cloudy. Now the wind has calmed down a little and clouds are parting letting the sun in once again. It's another reminder of how quickly life can change.
A few weeks ago, Gerald's mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. The surgeon went in to do a biopsy and ended up removing the lump which was malignant. This is the kind of thing we talked about before coming here -what will it be like to be away from family in hard times? Gerald in particular feels very far away - especially because our skype (computer phone) has not worked consistently for over a year. Email is fantastic, but there's nothing like hearing someone's voice.
The next step after the surgery was another surgery to remove the lymph nodes on her left side to see if the cancer has spread. Just last night, we got a phone call right after the girls went to bed. It was Gerald's mom and he said he could tell immediately it was good news, but waited for her to tell him! We are so very thankful the cancer has not spread! She had wanted us to wait to tell people until this news came back.
Radiation will start in November in Dodge City - one hour away every day for six weeks. It's exhausting to even think about!
Please keep Lois and George in your prayers during this difficult time. Thankfully they are in a very supportive community and the many, many meals Lois has made for others who are sick will most surely be remembered!

The stages of aging is first we have children and then we begin to lose family to old age. The cycle has started for you and I worry that you don't need more burdens to carry. I don't wish your parents any ill will but the reality is that we all die. Mom will be buried with a silver spoon. She spent her entire life going to dinner in the Baptist church and they would always tell her to save some silverware cause "dessert is coming".
Kiss the girls for us. MUD & Bobwa
